How should I introduce E85 on my ND Miata?

If you've just received your tune or are considering tuning your ND on Ethanol based fuel - This is our recommended procedure to safely get started.

Don't stress about this. It's first important to note that the ND ECU has a LOT of authority in the way of fuel corrections. So it's actually difficult to find yourself in a harmful situation. For instance, if you were to accidently fill your ND with E85 and you didn't tune your car yet, it's not the end of the world. Just drive your car easy and get where you need to go.

Our recommended procedure:

Run your car down to as close to 0 miles till empty as you're comfortable with.
Put 1-2 gallons of E85 in and flash your designated E85 calibration.
Drive your car normally until you're back to empty or as close as you're comfortable with.
Fill your tank with E85 and drive it any way you'd like to!

Alternate method (remember the ECU is powerful and has your back!):

Run your car down to as close to 0 miles till empty as you're comfortable with.
Fill your tank with E85 in and flash your designated E85 calibration.
Drive the car with some level of care until you run through this fuel. Your next tank you can begin to drive it like you stole it!
